Infantile Acute Febrile Mucocutaneous Lymph Node Syndrome (MCLS)


Abstract
In 1967, Dr. Kawasaki of Tokyo was first described 50 cases of mucocutaneous lymph node syndrerr_e, which characterized by high fever not responding to antibiotics, bilateral congestion of the ocular conjunctivae, changes of the lips and the oral cavity, edema of the extremities and membranous desquamation of the finger tips, non-purulent swelling of the cervical lymph node.
Since then approximately 10, 000 similar cases reported in Japen. In Korea fifteen cases of Kawasaki disease has also been recently reported in 1973 and 1976.
It has been assumed that mucocutaneous syndrome is a new clinical disease entity or -related to infantile periarteritis nodosa.
At recently authors experienced 4 case of MCLS, so we reported the clinical features, laboratory data and our experiences of the patients comparing to the original article of Dr. Kawasaki and reviewed the literature briefly.
